Iga Swiatek’s forehand is the most feared shot on the WTA Tour, and it’s what sets her apart from the rest of the field. The Polish native grew up primarily watching men’s tennis on the ATP Tour, where it’s common for players to use heavy forehands to generate pace and topspin, making shots incredibly difficult to return, especially on clay. At a young age, Swiatek’s trainer told her to hone that skill, because it may become useful one day—it’s safe to say he was right. With her dominant forehand in her bag of tricks, Swiatek stormed up the World Rankings in 2022, reaching the coveted No. 1 ranking on April 4, 2022, where she’s remained since.

Since making her debut on the WTA Tour in 2016, Swiatek has accomplished a lot in a short amount of time. At just 22 years of age, she’s already a four-time Grand Slam champion, winning three times at the French Open, once at the US Open, and added 17 singles titles to her resume. Right now, Swiatek is on top and she’s got the poise, talent, and experience to reign for years to come.
